However, I rely on having the "scroll wheel sends arrow keys in alternative screen mode" enabled for vim, in order to get both the scrolling and text selection UX that I prefer: To scroll within history of the output You would use b + You can then use M+V to page up and V to page down. The "scroll wheel sends arrow keys in alternative screen mode" breaks wheel scrolling in tmux instead of scrolling the iterm window, moving the wheel cycles through command history when in a tmux bash session.

When there's a bunch of text, it doesn't have to resize as you scroll and the performance is better. When I enable these things individually they each seem to contribute a little bit more to the general slowness of the scrolling. 2 Answers Sorted by: 9 The mode is referred to as 'copy mode' and as long as youre running tmux 1.5 or higher you can add: setw -g mode-mouse on to your /.nf file and tmux will automatically enter and exit copy mode when you use the scroll wheel on your mouse.If I disable blur, transparency, and anti-aliasing, it's not as bad (but still noticeable).I've done some experimentation and I've had some pretty annoying results: Please provide any additional information below.

I'm on a pretty beefy macbook pro with OS X 10.6.6. I've tested on the Alpha and the latest nightly (as of 4/10). What version of the product are you using? On what operating system? What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
